Default Aqueduct?

I can't build a structure tall enough to elevate my rain barrels to use for watering beds uphill from the house. Instead, I've been thinking about a way of carrying the water to the top of the hill via an elevated aqueduct. My idea is to capture the water at the rain gutter which is slightly higher than what a barrel would be at the hilltop and funnel it through a tube of some sort it to the barrels. I've seen exactly one picture of this on the web, very elegant, using bamboo. But a bamboo aqueduct isn't realistic for my situation so I'm trying to come up with an alternative. Has anyone ever tried using an aqueduct or has anyone seen one? Better yet, has anyone made one? Or have ideas about how to do so?
