I grew one called lettuce leaf basil this summer and it was a performer! Huge leaves!! looked great in the bed as well. I had orageno and parsley but they did not perform well. I always keep rosemary and mint. I am going to add dill this spring. I am so pumped up about spring I can hardly wait for the catalogs!

Has anyone tried growing herbs from seeds? I did so this past season and had some real trouble with basil, thyme, oregano and sage. We had an exceptionally wet season and I think that had somethign to do with it. Any tips on growing these?

Right now we have pulled up parsely and chives from the garden and have them growing in pots next to the house so that they are protected from hard frosts and can come inside when snow hits.
I find that it is much easier to grow from seed if you start in small pots of potting mix and then transfer into the garden the way you would with larger plants like tomatoes etc. Direct planting is often problematic for a lot of things for a lot of reasons. |

I have tulsi in my house. i have planted it in pots, though initially it was hard for me to make her live but now tulsi has grown into a big plant and i can find small small saplings of tulsi in the pot, they have grown from the seeds which have fallen.
i have planted those saplings in other pots now i have lots of tulsi in my house. now just planted ginger so waiting for it to grow.
