Radishes are about the easiest vegetable to grow. If the ground is good enough to grow other vegetables radishes will grow well. If the ground won't even grow weeds it will still probably grow radishes, but they probably won't win any prizes at the county fair. If they don't form a root bulb because of poor conditions you can eat the seed pods later.
Radishes are a prefered food for Flea beetles so you can seed them right next to where you plan to put in your peppers and tomatoes to act like a trap crop. Seeding a week or two before you plan to put in the peppers/tomatoes gives the radishes enough time to sprout and grow a bit. I found a recipe for baked radishes online, which is good because I can't eat many raw... coat with olive oil add some salt and maybe some garlic and then bake. They may have used soy sauce too...I forget) |

Radishes are what everybody would love to have in his garden. Radish seeds are tiny seeds, about 1/16 inch. You can have many seeds in a pack of radish seeds. And because they are small, you can just sprinkle seeds on top of your soil and cover up with little soil until you don't see those seeds anymore. Seeds will start to sprout and if the soil is dry, they will die. So make sure to keep it moist.

Water in moderation. Never let the soil dry out, like what dandelion mentioned. But don't keep it mucky, either. If the soil is too dry, radishes will bolt and become pithy and too pungent to eat. If too wet, the roots will split and rot. |

Good thing is radish seeds germinate in a matter of days. Many gardeners put a few radish seeds amongst the rows of carrots and other vegetables that take a long period to germinate. They are easy to grow and perhaps the fastest to harvest of all vegetables in as little as 20 days. |
